Why we don't publish an estimate
Every other site will give you a number, and we could too; take the old Employer Job Offer stream's processing standard, adjust it, present it confidently. It would be a guess dressed as data.
The eight previous OINP streams closed on June 26, 2026. The Workforce Priority stream has a different structure, a different scoring grid and a different intake mechanism. Historical processing standards from a closed stream do not predict a new one, and planning your permit renewal or your notice period around a fabricated timeline is how people end up out of status.

The parts of the timeline you control
- Your employer's start date. Nothing begins until they file, and employer preparation is the single most common source of delay. Ask early about years in business, revenue evidence and recruitment records.
- Document readiness. The 30 day and 17 day windows are only tight if you are still obtaining things. If everything exists, they are comfortable.
- Response speed. A request for additional documents pauses your file until you answer. Same-day responses keep it moving.
- Accuracy. An error that triggers clarification costs more time than the extra hour it would have taken to check.
Planning around unknown timelines
If you have a permit expiring, a lease ending or a family decision hanging on this, plan against the parts that are knowable and build in slack for the parts that are not:
- Work backwards from your permit expiry, not forwards from today. Status lapsing mid process is a genuine risk and one of the more difficult problems to fix.
- Assume the federal stage exists. A nomination is not permanent residence; there is a whole IRCC application after it, with its own timeline.
- Do not resign anything on the strength of an expected nomination date. There is no expected date.
- Keep language results fresh. A two-year validity window can expire during a long process, and re-testing mid-application is avoidable.

How long does the OINP take in 2026?
Ontario has not published processing standards for the Workforce Priority stream, because the stream launched in June 2026 and no applications have completed the full cycle. What is published are the applicant side deadlines: roughly 30 days to register an expression of interest and about 17 days to submit a nomination application after an invitation.
How long do I have to submit my EOI?
About 30 days from when your employer files the job offer through the Employer Portal. This window is fixed, and missing it means restarting the process.
How long after an invitation do I have to apply?
Roughly 17 days to submit the complete nomination application with supporting documents. It is short by design, which is why documents need to exist before you are invited.
How long does the federal PR stage take?
That is IRCC's timeline, not Ontario's. Express Entry applications with a provincial nomination have historically been processed considerably faster than the paper based route, which can take substantially longer. Check IRCC's current published processing times, which are updated regularly.
Why are there no OINP processing times published?
Because the stream is new. The eight previous OINP streams closed on June 26, 2026, and their historical processing standards do not carry over to a differently structured stream. Any figure quoted for the Workforce Priority stream today is an estimate.
Can I speed up my OINP application?
Not the assessment itself, but you control the parts that most often cause delay: having documents ready before the windows open, responding immediately to any request for further information, and making sure your employer files early rather than at the last moment.
What causes OINP delays?
Incomplete submissions, reference letters that do not match the claimed NOC, expired language results or ECAs, and requests for additional documents that go unanswered. Employer-side delays before filing are also common and entirely outside the applicant's control.
How long is an OINP nomination valid?
Nominations carry an expiry, and you must apply to IRCC for permanent residence within that period. Confirm the current validity on your nomination letter; do not rely on a figure from an older stream.
