The prevailing wage is the typical wage for your occupation in the specific economic region where the job is located. Your job offer must meet or exceed it to be eligible. It varies by occupation and by region, so a single national figure is not usable.
No. Meeting the prevailing wage is a pass/fail eligibility requirement. Wage points are a separate fixed table from under $20 an hour (0 points) to $40 or more (15 points), applied identically across Ontario. You can clear the prevailing wage and still score zero on the points table.
